How to reach Heraklion

By air through Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”:
Services to Heraklion International Airport “Nikos Kazantzakis” are operated daily by Aegean Airlines, Olympic Air and Sky Express. Flights from Athens [ATH] to Heraklion [HER], take approximately 45 min. Charter airlines operate direct chartered flights to Heraklion, daily from April to November, from major European cities.

By boat from Piraeus:
Ferry services are operated daily by MINOAN LINES and ANEK SUPERFAST. Overnight services from Piraeus to Heraklion take approximately 10 hours.

How to reach Fodele Beach Resort from Heraklion

Fodele Beach Resort is 25km to the west of Heraklion International Airport, “Nikos Kazantzakis” and 27km from Heraklion city center. To get to the resort from the ailport of Heraklion port/city center you have the following options: 

  1. By taxi: you can book a taxi by sending an email to info@cretetaxi.com quoting code FEBS2023; a taxi will be waiting for you at the airport arrivals. For all the participants of this Workshop there is a special fare price of €43.00 including VAT (one way). Please have a look at their website: www.cretetaxi.com (Catching a taxi from the taxi rank outside the airport arrivals hall will cost around €60 to Fodele Beach).
  1. By public transport: Bus service is available between 05.30 and 20.30. To use the bus, you need to take a taxi from the airport or the port and ask the driver to take you to the bus station for FODELE. From there, buses depart every hour, on the half hour, from 05.30 until 20.30. The ticket costs €2.70. This information will be updated closer to the dates of the Workshop. Visa information

Citizens of the European Union or holders of a valid Schengen Visa do not need a visa to visit Greece. 

Citizens of all other countries should contact their nearest Greek Embassy or Consulate in order to obtain information regarding a visa to visit Greece.
